Quincy Jones was married three times in his life and welcomed five of his seven children with his wives Jeri Caldwell, Ulla Andersson and Peggy Lipton.

The legendary music producer died on November 3rd at the age of 91 surrounded by his loved ones. Although unmarried at the end of his life, Jones had long-term marriages with three different women over the course of his career, beginning with his high school sweetheart Jeri Caldwell, whom he married in 1957. The couple had one child together, daughter Jolie, before divorcing in 1966.

After their separation, the musician married Ulla Andersson, a Swedish model and actress, the following year and had two daughters with her, Martina and Quincy, before they divorced in 1974. That same year, Jones married his third wife, The Mod Squad Actress Peggy Lipton, with whom he gave birth to two more daughters, Rashida and Kidada, before they finally separated in 1989.

Despite his divorces, Jones remained friends with his exes, as his daughter Rashida explained Weekly entertainment in 2018.

“The most special thing about my father’s life is the people he touches. Even when things don't work out and people are hurt, he always seems to keep those people in circles,” she said. “For example, at our Thanksgiving dinners, it’s still ex-wives and ex-girlfriends. Overall, everyone has kept the peace because it’s about love, you know?”

Here you can find out everything about Quincy Jones's wives: Jeri Caldwell, Ulla Andersson and Peggy Lipton.

Jones married his high school sweetheart Caldwell in 1957 after they had been together for some time. The two met in the 1940s when they were both students at Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington.

In an interview with Oprah, the music producer said Caldwell was one of his first loves in his life – and the first person he married.

“Jeri attacked me first,” he said. “Back then, I was struggling, and Jeri and her sister were the hotsy-tots at school. I noticed she stopped at the water fountain every day – the dog team is really good at spotting patterns.”

On October 4, 1953, Jones and Caldwell welcomed their daughter, Jolie Jones Levine. Jolie grew up in the Hollywood industry and dabbled in modeling and acting herself. However, in later years she chose to live a more private lifestyle away from the public eye.

During their relationship, Caldwell and Jones moved to Paris together and she accompanied him on his Free & Easy tour. However, Jones and Caldwell filed for divorce in 1966.

In November 2021, Caldwell died and Jones posted a touching tribute to his first wife on Instagram.

“As my high school friend, she was my rock and knew me before anyone else knew my name,” he wrote. “She never stopped putting others before herself. She even sacrificed her status and popularity to be with me (after her family, friends, high school and college tried multiple times to stop her from marrying a black man).”

After giving birth to a daughter, Rachel, with a dancer in July 1963 and separating from Caldwell, Jones married his second wife, Andersson, who was under contract with the Ford Modeling Agency and was starring in several Swedish films at the time.

Months before their wedding, Andersson and Jones welcomed their first daughter together, Martina Jones, on November 1, 1966. Two years later, Andersson gave birth to Jones' only son, Quincy Delight Jones III, on December 23, 1968.

The couple were together for almost a decade before they separated in 1974. At this point, Andersson moved back to Sweden with her children. Martina followed in her mother's footsteps as a model before returning to the United States, while Quincy III split his time between Los Angeles and Sweden.

In his last Instagram post, two days before his death, Jones wished Martina a happy birthday, writing: “Happy birthday to my Tina Beena @martinafotos1!! 🎉. I'm so proud to be your dad! Big hug, I love you forever 🫶🏾💜.”

Jones met for the first time The Mod Squad actress while married to Andersson, but the two didn't start dating until two years later.

“When I first met Quincy, he was still married,” Lipton said in the 2001 episode American champions, Quincy Jones: In the pocket. “And I was just so attracted to him, you know, I never knew that was my husband, but I was very, very attracted to him.”

Jones and Lipton reunited after breaking up with Andersson and married in 1974.

Together, the couple welcomed two daughters: Kidada Ann Jones on March 22, 1974 and Rashida Jones on February 25, 1976. Lipton said that after the birth of her children, she was happy to quit her job as an actress and focus on raising her child focus on family, although she ultimately had a successful career as the series' lead Twin Peaks and the accompanying film.

“I was glad it was over, and it wasn’t the happiest life,” she said in the interview Quincy Jones: In the pocket their work. “I had led a very lonely life until I met Quincy.”

However, the couple separated in 1989, with Lipton citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce in the filing Los Angeles Times. At the time, Rashida was 10 and Kidada was 12.

The two girls were split between parents, with the former living with Lipton and the latter living with Jones, Rashida told Oprah.com in 2009.

However, Lipton and Jones maintained a strong co-parenting relationship and worked together in raising their children.

“My parents are so close and that really makes it easier because everything comes from love,” Rashida said Weekly entertainment in 2018. “My mother is so empathetic towards my father, but it was also incredibly hard for her to have to go through what she went through and admit that the relationship didn't work out.”

In 2019, Lipton died of cancer at the age of 72. Jones wrote a touching tribute to his ex-wife on X (formerly Twitter), describing their love as “eternal.”

“There is absolutely no combination of words that can express the sadness I feel after losing my beloved Peggy Lipton,” he wrote. “My wife of 14 years. We shared many, many beautiful memories and most importantly, two incredible daughters…Pie (Kidada) and Doonkie (Rashida).”
