The Los Angeles Clippers look to change their home fortunes in their brand new building when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.

The Clips have lost the first three of five home games and are 0-4 in the state-of-the-art Intuit Dome. Nevertheless, they are considered 4-point favorites in the NBA odds.

My analysis
If the Los Angeles Clippers want to get that elusive first win at home, they will need to finish with better play in the second half. They last lost 105-92 to the Thunder, in a game in which they led 57-53 at halftime before their offense came home.

That's a recurring theme in this edition of clips still awaiting Kawhi Leonard's debut. LA held a second-half lead in all four home games this year – including double-digit leads in three of those games – and failed to secure the win.

The San Antonio Spurs could be the match for them as LA has rattled off seven straight wins against San Antonio and also went 5-2 ATS in that span. There are only five teams that score fewer points than the Clippers without Kawhi, and the Spurs are one of them, posting just 105.2 points per game.

The Spurs play at a bottom-five pace, so it's no surprise that only one opponent has scored more than 106 points against them – and you have to go all the way back to opening night, when Dallas posted a 120-109 win.

Several factors will work in L.A.'s favor on Monday: They are the league leaders in paint scoring defense and are the only team holding teams to fewer than 40 points per game.

Second, the ferocious 3-point shooting defense — the Clips are one of three teams that allow opponents to hit better than 40% — is unlikely to be exploited by a San Antonio team that's averaging 31.9 % is in last third place.

And finally, the Spurs are among the bottom four in the second half and only scored 53.7 points after halftime. A decent performance from the Clippers should give them their first home win of the season.

With Paul George gone and Kawhi still sidelined, Norman Powell has emerged as the current go-to guy. He was the leading scorer in three of five games on the year, including the final game when he scored 24 points in a loss to the Thunder.

He is one of the top 20 scorers in the league at 25.2 points per game and has surpassed that 20.5 point mark four times in the last five games.

He does so many things and is involved in so many facets of the game that it's hard to gauge second-year forward Victor Wembanyama's progress. One game after hitting a rare 5×5 statline, he was rather dull in a win over Minny, posting 17 points, six boards, three assists and two blocks.

It is the fifth time in six games that Wemby has had fewer than 10 rebounds in a game and he will be battling for the top spot against an LA team that ranks second in the league in rebounds per game.
