Victor Wembanyama and Ivica Zubac exchange thunderous dunks before halftime

The NBA is full of human highlight reels, and Spurs center Victor Wembanyama certainly provides plenty of highlights of his own.

Wembanyama did just that on Monday night in the regular season game against the LA Clippers. Echoing his “Lob City” self, Chris Paul ran a high pick-and-roll with Wembanyama, who pulled himself out of the game with just under two minutes left in the second quarter and threw down a monster slam.

Wembanyama finished the half with eight points on 4-for-11 shooting after a subpar first-half performance. Despite the Frenchman's performance, the Spurs led the Clippers 56-48 when the teams entered the locker room. Julian Champagne led all Spurs scorers at halftime with 11 points.

On the very next play, Ivica Zubac of the Clippers showed off his very own style of slam. The six-foot veteran collected an offensive rebound and rose to answer Wembanyama's slam with one of his own.

Zubac outscored Wembanyama in the first half with 12 points on 4-for-14 shooting — a lower percentage than the Spurs big man. Zubac led all Clippers scorers at halftime. His 4-for-4 mark from the charity stripe salvaged his starting stat line.

The Spurs went 3-for-3 in the young season and were trying to break the .500 mark. Perhaps the most surprising statistic of the first half was that San Antonio still led at halftime despite shooting less than 30 percent from the 3-point line in the first half.
