What is the most important political issue in Michigan?

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – A recent poll asked Michigan voters what they believe is the most important issue facing the state, and while the economy is a unifying theme for a variety of Michigan residents, they continue to disagree about the importance of other issues.

47% of Michigan residents believe the economy, particularly jobs, inflation and taxes, are most important.

The second most important topic? Threats to democracy, according to 13.5% of survey participants.

Housing affordability and immigration were the next most common responses at 8.2% and 7%, respectively.

Abortion access accounted for 5.9% of responses and health care accounted for 5.7%, while crime and education were nearly tied at 4.7% and 4.5%, respectively.

Foreign policy was the least popular choice, with only 0.9% saying it was the most important. 2.5% of respondents answered something different.

Current survey shows Harris leading Trump in the Michigan presidential election by nearly 2 points (49.7 to 48.2).

Among Michigan voters, men are more likely to support Trump (55% to 43%) and women are more likely to support Harris (55% to 44%).

The survey was conducted by Emerson College and Nexstar with a sample size of 790 and a credibility interval of 3.4%.
