On Tuesday, November 5, watch live as a map of the U.S. presidential election animates states that turn red or blue as each is called for either Democrats or Republicans.

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris gave their final addresses to voters on Monday before voters went to the polls.

As election workers count ballots and voting data is released, the media will begin calling states this evening that favor either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump. While the media will likely announce the final outcome in the days or weeks after November 5, their decision is always just a prediction. The election will be officially certified by Congress on January 6th.

The economy and the state of U.S. democracy are among the top issues cited by voters in the NBC News election poll, according to preliminary results.

The Republican ended his latest rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with personal attacks on Harris, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her fellow California Democrat Adam Schiff.

The Democrat was joined in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by celebrities Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey, Ricky Martin and The Roots, while Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera supported her in Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.

At midnight, the first in-person votes were cast in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, a nearly 65-year tradition.
