WASHINGTON, DC (WWNY) – The two congressmen representing northern New York, Republicans Claudia Tenney and Elise Stefanik, have won re-election.

Both had Democratic opponents who ran quiet, reserved campaigns.

In the race for the 21st District, Stefanik defeated Democrat Paula Collins. Stefanik is believed to be at Mar-a-Lago in Florida with former President Donald Trump.

In a prepared statement, Stefanik said, among other things:

“I am incredibly honored that voters in New York State and the North Country have once again placed their trust in me by overwhelmingly supporting my re-election. As a proud Upstate New Yorker, it is a great honor and privilege to fight for Upstate at the highest levels of government.”

Meanwhile, Tenney defeated Democrat David Wagenhauser.

In a statement, Tenney said:

“I am honored by the overwhelming support of NY-24 voters tonight. Our grassroots campaign was able to reach voters in every corner of this new district with our message of economic growth, a secure border and safe streets,” Tenney said. “Since representing NY-24, our office has donated millions to this community, stood up for local taxpayers against oppressive governments in Albany and Washington, and remains the only member of Congress to vote every vote I take in the House , explained in detail.” Our unparalleled transparency and aggressive advocacy have resonated with voters across party lines. While our election may be over, the fight to win President Trump tonight and key congressional districts has only just begun.”
