Phillip McGraw, the former TV personality known as Dr. Phil, was one of the many speakers at Donald Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden this weekend, and during his time on stage he made a point of complaining about DEI initiatives. And that was pretty rich for “The View” host Alyssa Farah Griffin, considering how he got his job.

While on stage to support Trump, McGraw promoted his new media company Merit Street Media, saying it was named that for a reason, before attacking DEI initiatives.

“We didn’t choose the name for this at random,” he said. “This country was built on hard work, value and talent. Not on equal outcomes, not on DEI. This country was built through hard work.”

McGraw earned his doctorate in clinical psychology and immediately worked in his father's private practice after graduating from school.

When host Joy Behar discussed the rally on “The View” on Tuesday, she called McGraw's presence at the event a “huge disappointment” while Farah Griffin mocked his actual speech.

“He sought diversity, he literally got his job because Oprah was a woman who excelled as a black woman in the media,” she reminded viewers. “But neither here nor there.”

In fact, McGraw was hired by Oprah Winfrey in 1995 when he ran a legal consulting firm called CSI. She was so impressed with his work that she invited him onto her show, which became a weekly gig and eventually led to him getting his syndicated talk show.

“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
