Another no-call on a hit to Sam Darnold's head cost the Vikings

For the second game in a row, a blow to Sam Darnold's head led to a no-call from the referees, hurting the Vikings.

Two Thursdays ago, the Vikings' loss to the Rams was sealed when officials missed a flagrant facemask penalty when a Los Angeles defender spun Darnold's head around and threw him to the ground for safety. On Sunday evening it happened again, although it wasn't as obvious as the last time.

Early in the second quarter, Colts defensive tackle Grover Stewart ran over center Garrett Bradbury and got into the backfield. He appeared to touch Darnold's head as he threw him to the ground. Darnold lost the ball on the play and it was caught by Kenny Moore II, who darted into the end zone for a defensive touchdown.

A referee initially threw a flag at the game, but picked it up after a discussion with the team.

Again, it's not a 100 percent clear penalty like the one against the Rams, but acting NBC analyst Terry McAulay said Football on Sunday evenings The broadcast said that in his opinion there should have been a penalty for rough tackling the passer.

Others on social media did too.

Kevin O'Connell was visibly unhappy with the referees lifting the flag as he had a lively discussion with a referee after the game.

At halftime, the Vikings trailed the Colts 7-0.
