With key players injured and Liverpool in strong form, former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha believes Arsenal go into this game as underdogs but believes it is a position that could suit them.

“Should Mikel Arteta be worried? I don’t think so,” he said on the Planet Premier League podcast.

“I think he understands how important the start of the season is, but even more so he understands how important it is how they finish the season.”

“The disappointment after the loss to Bournemouth will be big, but the really good teams, players and managers – I always appreciate them after a defeat.”

“The fact that they will be tested against Liverpool and, strangely enough, potentially feel a bit like an underdog at home – I think that fits with who they want to be at this moment.”

“The crowd will be ready, the players will be too and if they manage to win it will give the boost that maybe they didn't think they needed at the time, but the boost that will come, and the belief in it. “Be there 100%.”

Liverpool have lost just once this season – the 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest – and have won every other game.

Former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter believes the stability Arne Slot has provided is key to their excellent form.

“He managed to make Liverpool very stable,” said Potter.

“The style of play has changed little by little – they now build up a little more patiently and press a little more patiently. It will be interesting to see how they maintain that.”

Of Sunday's game, Potter added: “I think it will be a draw.”
