Aubrey Plaza plays a corrupt journalist in Francis Ford Coppola's latest film, and according to the actress, she watched “a lot” of Fox News to prepare and get into the character.

The suggestion began as a joke on Tuesday night's episode of “The Daily Show,” on which Plaza was a guest. When discussing the film and portraying Plaza's character, host Desi Lydic wondered “how much footage of Tucker Carlson did you have to watch” to channel a morally corrupt journalist.

And although Plaza didn't name anyone, the actress laughed and admitted that she took inspiration from Carlson's previous network.

“I mean, seriously, I actually watched a lot of Fox News,” Plaza replied. “For learning, yes. To research my role as a corrupt journalist. I did!”

Additionally, Lydic wondered how much this would add to Plaza's therapy bills.

“Up,” Plaza said expressionlessly. “Very high, yes.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, the “Agatha All Along” star noted that Coppola called her by her character name – Wow Platinum – on set and continues to do so now, which helped her get into character.

“Just start spreading conspiracy theories just like Megyn Kelly out there,” Lydic joked.

“Megalopolis” hits theaters on Friday, September 27th.
