Bengals vs. Ravens result, live updates: Cincinnati leads 14-7 at halftime on Thursday Night Football

4 minutes, 44 seconds Read

A little over a month ago, the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals played one of the best games of this NFL season. The Ravens' 41-38 overtime win in Cincinnati moved Baltimore to 3-2 and the league's top offense was in full swing. Lamar Jackson threw for 348 yards and four touchdown passes while the ground game totaled 175 yards. Not to be outdone, Joe Burrow was phenomenal in the loss, throwing for 392 yards and five scores and one interception. Bengals kicker Evan McPherson missed a 53-yard field goal in overtime, allowing the Ravens to win on a Justin Tucker field goal.

This loss dropped Cincinnati to 1-4 on the season, but as they have done several times in recent years, the Bengals have bounced back and enter today's game at 4-5. They need a win to advance back into the AFC playoffs image. Baltimore comes into the game at 6-3 and needs a win to keep pace with the Steelers at the top of the AFC North.

Live52 updates

  • Burrow throws a deep strike to Jermaine Burton on fourth down that falls incomplete short of the end zone. The Ravens take over their own 34 with 9:29 minutes left.

  • The Ravens get the stop on third-and-2 at their own 34, but the Bengals try on fourth down.

  • The Ravens defense continually misses opportunities to get off the field.

  • Ja'Marr Chase is up to 168 yards on eight catches and 12 targets. He is the Bengals' offensive lineman with Tee Higgins out.

  • This was the seventh missed extra point of Tucker's career in 507 attempts. All of them have been there for the last seven seasons.

It looks like he missed the shot just to the left.

  • TOUCHDOWN: Tylan Wallace performs a balancing act for 86 yards, but Justin Tucker misses the XP

On 3rd-and-2, Lamar Jackson gets the ball to an open Tylan Wallace, who fends off a cornerback tackle and somehow manages to go out of bounds for an 86-yard touchdown. It's not a game-winning touchdown, however, as Justin Tucker missed his first extra point of the season.

  • The Ravens get the stop after pressuring Burrow two plays in a row. The Bengals punt and the Ravens have a chance to get revenge after being on defense all game.

  • The third quarter ends with the Bengals pushing past midfield again, but Nnamdi Madubuike's third sack of the night puts them on 2nd-and-16 at the Ravens' 40. There are some big plays at the start of the fourth quarter.

  • The Amazon stream just showed Kyle Hamilton on the sidelines wearing a walking boot.

  • TOUCHDOWN: The Ravens get closer with Derrick Henry's 12th TD run

One play later, Derrick Henry scored to cut the deficit to one point. That's his NFL-best 12th touchdown run. The Bengals offense did a great job tonight limiting the Ravens' 1-2 punch in the run game, but it's hard to keep Jackson and Henry down for four quarters.

  • Lamar Jackson was just everywhere. On a play that started at the 11, the Bengals defense chased him back past the 30, but he harnessed the sideline and somehow reached the 1.

  • FUMBLE: Ravens have a big break thanks to Marlon Humphrey

Chase Brown tries to force a first down and the Ravens come down with it. It was Marlon Humphrey with a huge hit for the Ravens, and Roquan Smith got it back. Baltimore takes on the Bengals at 31st.

  • Meanwhile, the Bengals just keep moving the ball, this time converting a 3rd-and-6 that would have been pretty big for Baltimore. The team is 5 for 10 on third downs tonight, averaging 5.9 yards per play overall.

  • One of Lamar Jackson's trainers also just looked at his throwing hand and winced.

  • Here's a stat: The Ravens started 12 of their 31 offensive plays tonight with a gain of more than 10 yards, thanks to seven penalties and a few miscues. This is a team that is used to using its running game to score early gains, but that hardly happened tonight.

  • And the Ravens' offense is coming off the field again. The crowd at M&T Bank Stadium loudly cheers them for their worst performance of the season.

  • More bad news for the Ravens, who also just had a nice lead that was wiped out by another penalty.

  • TOUCHDOWN: Bengals go up 14 points on Ja'Marr Chase's 8th touchdown of the season

Then Joe Burrow hit Ja'Marr Chase for a 67-yard touchdown on the Bengals' first offensive play of the third quarter. It was a crazy run after Chase's catch, and now the Ravens need another multi-touchdown comeback to beat the Bengals.
