Bills WR Khalil Shakir sets an NFL record in the first quarter against the Ravens

1 minute, 23 seconds Read

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir wasted no time in making a piece of history for his team in Week 4 Football on Sunday evenings Showdown with the Baltimore Ravens and set an NFL record on the second play from scrimmage.

Less than a minute into the game, he caught a pass from quarterback Josh Allen, the 28th straight regular season goal he scored without a miss or drop. Shakir's streak dates back to Week 15 of the 2023 season, when he caught 3 of 3 for 45 yards in Buffalo's 24-22 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The previous NFL record in this category was held by New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas (27).

It should be noted that this record only takes into account regular season goals, as Shakir did not score any goals everyone Pass Allen has thrown to him in live games over the last few contests. In the 2023 postseason, he caught 10 of 12 targets; That's still an incredibly impressive number, but media reporting that Shakir scored 28 consecutive goals is technically inaccurate unless they take the regular season qualifier into account.

Known for his ability to identify weak spots in coverage, his strong hands and his willingness to fight for yards after the catch, Shakir has long been considered a star in Orchard Park. Many prognosticators expected him to thrive in an increased offensive role this season, and he got off to an incredibly strong start, entering the Bills' Week 4 contest with 14 receptions for 168 yards and two scores this year. He'll look to build on his season stats during Buffalo's primetime matchup against Baltimore.
