Boston Bruins junior player Fabian Lysell had a difficult start to the preseason. In the Bruins' first preseason game against the New York Rangers, the 2021 first-round pick did not record a single shot and hardly stood out.

That certainly changed in Lysell's second preseason game, as he put in an outstanding performance against the Washington Capitals last night (September 24).

Before the Bruins' game against the Capitals, head coach Jim Montgomery sent Lysell a clear message. The Bruins coach said Lysell needed to do more to make the NHL roster. And that's exactly what Lysell did against the Capitals.

Lysell was much more noticeable against the Capitals. He created chances, was much better with the puck and showed off his speed. The highlight of his night, however, was when he scored his beautiful goal with a perfectly placed shot.

That was exactly the kind of game Lysell needed after his shaky first preseason game and Montgomery's warning. Now he'll look to build on that. If he continues to play well, it will improve his chances of making the NHL roster come the start of the season.
