Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins, Week 9, Second Half, Open Thread

1 minute, 55 seconds Read

Those expecting an easy day for the Buffalo Bills are probably shaking their heads at halftime thanks to a mostly listless performance against the Miami Dolphins. At halftime, the Bills trailed the Dolphins 10-6.

In Buffalo, three touchdowns were lost due to negative plays. Dropped passes from rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman and running back James Cook were surefire results, and Coleman's error led to quarterback Josh Allen's second interception of the season – this time just steps from the end zone. With time running out in the half, Allen broke loose for a long touchdown run, but it was called back by a second offensive holding call in as many plays.

If you're counting: three red zone trips, zero touchdowns. Luckily the Bills' special forces showed up to play today, because too many players elsewhere look like they're sleepwalking through a walk in the park.

The game announcers constantly mention how efficient quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Allen are playing, but it's not the kind of efficiency that led to an impressive performance. Allen is 12 of 19 for 79 yards and one interception over 30 minutes of play. While some see these as efficient numbers, the yards are terrible. This team is missing wide receiver Amari Cooper.

The Dolphins surprisingly dare Allen to beat them through the air. But too often, Bills receivers and the offensive line have let Allen down. Surprisingly, Allen's best plays came from his legs, but that wasn't enough to offset the team-wide errors.

Buffalo has almost no answer on defense for Miami's rushing attack. When the Dolphins decided to finish off the Bills in the second quarter, there was a long touchdown drive that silenced the home crowd.

The Buffalo Bills are not playing good football this afternoon. While it may be true that the Miami Dolphins view tonight's game like a Super Bowl, the Bills need to be aware of what lies ahead with a loss. Hopefully head coach Sean McDermott has a plan to turn the second half around. It will require a significant number of moves by offensive coordinator Joe Brady and defensive coordinator Bobby Babich.

Here's your second half thread for the rest of today's game. As always, be kind to one another and in all things… Go Bills!
