Miami quarterback Cam Ward has gotten his Heisman campaign back on track.

The 22-year-old helped the Hurricanes to a 53-31 victory over Duke, improving their season record to 9-0.

The Hurricanes totaled 527 yards and had the ball for over 30 minutes. The defense forced four Duke turnovers and limited the rushing attack to just 77 yards.

Hurricanes wide receiver Xavier Restrepo had a historic day with eight catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns. He became the program's all-time leader in receiving yards, passing Santana Moss.

Ward had a poor performance the week before against Florida State, but his push for the Heisman was back on track against the Blue Devils. He went 25 of 41 for 400 yards with five touchdowns and one interception.

Fans took to social media to hype his Heisman candidacy.

Cam Ward is unreal🔥🔥🔥🔥

Ward is now up to 3,141 passing yards with 29 touchdowns and just six interceptions this season and is the centerpiece of the undefeated Hurricanes team. That makes him a strong case for the Heisman, even though others like Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and two-way star Travis Hunter from Colorado have excellent resumes.

A non-quarterback hasn't won the award since 2020, and Ward's spot as the star quarterback for a team with national title hopes should only help him keep the Heisman among quarterbacks.

His next chance to showcase his skills will be next week when Miami travels to Georgia Tech.
