Celtics injury report: Rotation player demoted for Pistons game

1 minute, 20 seconds Read

The Celtics will be without one of their rotation players for the second game in a row. Sam Hauser is not listed on the injury report for Saturday's 7 p.m. game against the Pistons because of back pain. He also missed the Wizards' win.

As expected, Kristaps Porzingis remains out due to rehab surgery. The Celtics have fared well so far despite being without Porzingis, posting a 2-0 record including two blowout wins.

It is unclear how serious Hauser's back injury is. He was originally questionable for the Wizards game before being downgraded to out for the game. Hauser told reporters in Washington D.C. that he's got this under control during the offseason and training camp, so it's at least worth keeping an eye on.

The C's could tweak their rotation if Hauser is out, although they played most of their key players early in the Wizards game. After the C's took a huge lead over the Wizards in the third quarter, C's coach Joe Mazzulla fired his bench from there. Still, a guy like Jordan Walsh could get some extra wing minutes if Hauser is out.

The Celtics will try to stay perfect and reach the 3-0 mark. The Pistons were the worst team in the league last season and play the Cavaliers on Friday in Cleveland. So Detroit will face Boston for the second game in a row.
