In conversation with The Guardian Just weeks after her show was canceled, Roan opened up about how her life completely changed due to the dangers of being in the public eye.

“I go to therapy twice a week. I went to a psychiatrist last week because I thought I didn't know what was going on. She diagnosed me with severe depression – which I didn't think I had because I'm not really sad,” she explained.

“But I have all the symptoms of someone who is severely depressed,” she said, citing symptoms of brain fog, poor concentration and “a very lackluster outlook.”

Roan explained that she believes her mental health has been affected because her “whole life has changed.”

“I’m very put off by all the notoriety,” Roan said. “Some girls have been doing it for so long that they're used to it, but I'm not that kind of girl. I’m not going to be a walk in the park for a man who tells me to shut the fuck up.”

She added that she was warned by people in the music industry that fame felt like “going through puberty again.”

She continued: “My body feels different. It keeps the tension going in a completely different way: I have all these new emotions and I'm really confused. This is what it felt like to be 12. I look at (Lady) Gaga and even Sabrina (Carpenter) and Lana (Del Rey) – when I see them going out in public, I can't even imagine how many times they've had to prepare for this.”
