In the upcoming duel between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, a rookie not selected in the draft could start as a running back.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid decided during Friday's official press conference not to include Kareem Hunt in the active roster for Sunday's game.

“He's done well. He's in good shape. Look, he's got to have the opportunity to play. He played a football game somewhere. So, to tell you the rest, he came in good shape. So that's a plus,” Reid said. “We'll see how it goes next week and where he's at; he played a lot this week with a scout team. So it was good for him to get in there, run around and get back into the football part.”

Rookie running back Carson Steele had additional opportunities to play with the starters during the week in Isiah Pacheco's absence. Although Reid has not made the decision official, it is believed that Steele will likely start on Sunday.

“He (Steele) doesn't say much. He just goes in and does his thing and gives 100 miles an hour every play,” Reid said. “That's what he did this week and he used the time well.”

Todd Pinkston, the Chiefs' running back coach, also praised Steele during practice earlier this week and expected him to play more often on Sunday night.

“Carson (Steele) just comes into it with confidence,” Pinkston said. “His work ethic is clear and what he does is very impressive.”
