2 minutes, 44 seconds Read

The Kansas City Chiefs will await MRI results but fear star receiver Rashee Rice could be out for the season after a fiery collision with Patrick Mahomes in Sunday's win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Rice, who left Sunday's game after Mahomes hit his right knee during a tackle following an interception, is feared to have torn an ACL, according to multiple reports.

And Rice's reaction to his injury when it happened in the first quarter gave that away.

The star receiver was trying to limit the damage after Mahomes was picked off by Kristian Fulton when his quarterback also tried to stop things. However, when Mahomes dove deep to hit Fulton, he came into contact with Rice instead, and his main target wasn't expecting that.

Rice immediately went down, writhing in pain, and after being helped to the sideline, the ambulance came by to take him to the locker room.

He lay in the car with a towel over his face and his hands on his head, showing his deep emotion as he knew something was wrong.

“It’s not good,” Reid told the CBS broadcast at halftime when asked about Rice. After the game, he also expressed gloom about his receiver's future for the 2024 season.

“I feel terrible for Rashee,” he said. “…We'll hope for the best.”

The Chiefs will have Rice undergo an MRI on Monday and expect her diagnosis to be confirmed.

This would be a huge loss for the Chiefs, who are already without Hollywood Brown this season after he suffered a season-ending injury before he could even take a snap with his new team.

Kansas City will also be without star running back Isiah Pacheco for weeks after he suffered a broken fibula in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Rice's return to an NFL playing field is also unclear due to off-field issues. He is awaiting trial on multiple charges related to a high-speed car crash in March on a Texas highway. Rice could face disciplinary action from the NFL following the lawsuit.
