Concord Monitor – Letter: I was a Republican. That's why I'm voting for Maggie Goodlander

I'm a lifelong Republican, but I'm voting for Maggie Goodlander in Congress. Like many Republicans and independents across the state, I am disappointed in my party's candidate for Congress in the Second District. Lily Tang Williams' victory over the Sensible Conservatives showed that my party had abandoned me. After much deliberation, I was not officially registered. It wasn't an easy decision. Lily is a member of the Free State Project: a fringe political movement that does not align with New Hampshire values. She is characterized by ambition without commitment. Before moving to New Hampshire, Williams ran for U.S. Senate in Colorado. Now she's making her second congressional run in New Hampshire.

In contrast, Maggie Goodlander is dedicated to service. Born and raised in Nashua, Maggie served for over a decade as an intelligence officer in the Navy and as an aide to the late Senator John McCain, where she worked on the other side for the good of the nation. I recently attended an event of hers and she spoke about working towards common goals regardless of party. Their focus on collaboration is exactly what NH needs. I don't agree with Maggie on all political issues, but in today's politics we must put aside differences and vote for strength of character and commitment. As Granite Staters and as Americans, the choice before us this fall could not be clearer. That's why on November 5th I'm joining the chorus of voices supporting Maggie.
