DeAndre Hopkins trade still leaves the Chiefs with a few weaknesses

1 minute, 20 seconds Read

The Kansas City Chiefs have finally settled on a wide receiver that fans have been clamoring for since the departures of Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown. Five-time Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins will join the Chiefs and will reportedly be available in Week 8 against the Raiders.

Chiefs fans certainly have a much better feeling about their team after adding Hopkins to the mix. Despite the 6-0 start, there were concerns about this team's depth. Now that GM Brett Veach has addressed that, the Chiefs can now focus on the team's other weaknesses.

These are on the defensive side of the ball. After Jaylen Watson suffered an injury in Week 7, the Chiefs could use another cornerback. Currently, Nazeeh Johnson is likely to start alongside Trent McDuffie, but whether he is ready for the expanded role remains to be seen.

Interior defensive line is the other position where the Chiefs could use reinforcements. Veterans Mike Pennel and Derrick Nnadi have taken a step back this season, while Tershawn Wharton has played most of the snaps alongside Chris Jones at the other defensive tackle position. Neither player makes Chiefs fans feel good about their rotation.

Justin Reid and Bryan Cook started the season at safety, but the fan base wouldn't say no to an upgrade there either.

The Kansas City Chiefs are on track to make a historic three-peat this season. Even though they are clear favorites to win the overall game at +430 at FanDuel Sportsbook, the Chiefs still have holes they need to fill.
