NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Quarterback Derek Carr and tight end Taysom Hill are among seven players listed as inactive by the Saints for their home game on Sunday (October 13) against Tampa Bay.

Carr strained his oblique muscle in last Monday night's loss in Kansas City. This is the group of muscles on the side of the torso that allows the body to rotate the torso from side to side, like throwing a football. Carr is expected to be sidelined for more than a week while the injury heals.

Carr's injury opened the door for rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler to make his first NFL start. Rattler, a fifth-round draft pick from South Carolina, will make his season debut against the Bucs. Rattler was listed as the inactive emergency third quarterback through the first five games of this season.

The Saints (2-3) hope to end their three-game losing streak when they face the Bucs (3-2), who share the NFC South lead with the Atlanta Falcons.

Hill was previously ruled out for Sunday's game as he recovers from a broken rib and a bruised lung. Also missing at the start of the week were guard Cesar Ruiz (knee), linebacker Pete Werner (hamstring) and safety Will Harris (hamstring).

The other Saints listed as inactive for Sunday are guard Lucas Patrick, defensive tackle Khristian Boyd and running back Kendre Miller. Miller was activated from injured reserve but remained inactive again Sunday.

The Buccaneers listed starting running back Rachaad White among their six inactive players.
