Ron DeSantis continued that while he “worked well with Joe Biden,” Kamala Harris “never called Florida.”

Ron DeSantis criticized Kamala Harris for calling him “totally irresponsible” after he refused to take her calls about the response to hurricanes Milton and Helene. On Thursday, Florida's governor claimed that the vice president had “never offered support” and that she was “trying to interfere in this matter because of her political campaign.”

Just hours after the monstrous Hurricane Milton made landfall in the Sunshine State, DeSantis addressed Harris' comments about him during his appearance on CNBC's Squawk Box. “I work with the President of the United States. I work with the director of FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). “We’ve been doing this non-stop for over two weeks now,” said the 46-year-old.

DeSantis continued that while he “worked well with Joe Biden,” the Democratic nominee “never called Florida.” “She never offered support. I don't have time for these games. “I'm not interested in your campaign,” he continued, adding, “Of course I'm not a supporter of hers, but she's not, she has no role in this process.” And that's why I work with the people I do must work together.”

Earlier this week, Harris criticized the “selfish” Florida governor for “playing political games” while speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrew as part of her media campaign. “You know, moments of crisis should, if nothing else, really be the moment when whoever calls themselves a leader says they're going to put politics aside and put the people first.”

On Wednesday, the arguments between DeSantis and Harris reached the White House press office. Asked by a reporter whether it was the Republican governor's responsibility to answer the vice president's calls, Biden said: “All I can tell you is that I spoke to Governor DeSantis.” “He was very friendly. He thanked me for everything we did. He knows what we're doing and I think that's important,” the president added during the press conference.
