D'Onta Foreman and Jerome Ford almost 50/50 against Jaguars

2 minutes, 4 seconds Read

The Cleveland Browns earned their first win of Sunday after defeating the Jaguars 18-13 in Jacksonville. Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman led the charge. The win was much needed after losing their first home game to the Dallas Cowboys, and the Browns were able to get back on even terms at 1-1.

With injuries mounting and new strategies being introduced, here's a look at the Browns' snap counts:

iOL Ethan Pocic
iOL Wyatt Teller
Joel Bitonio, owner of iOL
OT James Hudson
DB Grant Delpit

With so many injuries on the offensive line and the reinforcements expected, it's incredibly encouraging to see the interior line able to play at full strength the entire game. Delpit was expected to step in after Juan Thornhill's injury, and he did.

QB DeShaun Watson – 96%
WR Amari Cooper – 88%
WR Jerry Jeudy – 79%
WR Elijah Moore – 72%
OT Dawand Jones – 85%

Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah – 98%
Linebacker Jordan Hicks – 88%

DE Alex Wright 55%
CB Martin Emerson – 97%
CB Greg Newsome – 97%
DB Ronnie Hickman – 70%
CB Cameron Mitchell – 68%
DB Rodney McLeod – 54%

The list includes the usual suspects at the top, although it is encouraging to see Jeudy return to action after his injury scare, as is Myles Garrett, who appeared on the injured list with a foot issue.

Owusu-Koramoah continues to be a leader of this defense, as he only misses a single play and continues to force opposing defenses' offensive coordinators to build their game plans around him.

Otherwise remarkable

TE Jordan Atkins – 49%
TE Blake Whiteheart – 33%
RB Jerome Ford – 44%
RB D'Onta Foreman – 38%

LB Devin Bush – 5%
CB Denzel Ward – 18%

The Browns took a committee approach to replacing TE David Njoku by calling up Blake Whiteheart from the practice squad, but despite his and Jordan Akins' efforts, the Browns are opting to run a handful of plays without a tight end at all.

The running back room saw a shakeup as Jerome Ford went from workhorse in Week 1 to a true team player in Week 2. D'Onta Foreman benefited, playing a single snap the week before that led the Browns in runs and surpassed Ford in attempts.

Denzel Ward was questionable before the game because of a shoulder injury and played only a limited amount. This was an odd decision since Ward barely played, suggesting he would rather not play than be healthy.

Finally, Devin Bush, a former first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers, has not made it into the rotation at all and plays significantly more special teams snaps.
