Dozens of frozen waffle brands sold at Walmart, Target and other retailers have been recalled due to concerns about listeria, a Food and Drug Administration news release said.

The recall was issued Oct. 18 by Oakbrook-based food manufacturer TreeHouse Foods, the news release said. The products were sold in the United States and Canada under various brand names, including popular names such as Kodiak, Great Value, Simple Truth and Good & Gather.

In total, 85 different products were recalled, from homemade waffles to buttermilk, protein, blueberries, chocolate chips and more. A complete list of products and UPC codes can be found here.

According to the press release, the problems were discovered during routine testing at a suburban facility. There have been no confirmed reports of illness related to the recalled products, the statement added.

TreeHouse Foods advised consumers to check their freezer for the recalled products and return them to the point of purchase or dispose of them for credit.

The recall comes as nearly 12 million pounds of BrucePac ready-to-eat meat and poultry products sold in frozen meals, salads, sandwiches and bowls at popular grocery stores across the country have also been recalled due to listeria.

The latest update on the BrucePac recall says the recalled products were also shipped to schools across the country.

Listeria symptoms

Invasive listeria is particularly worrisome for pregnant people, newborns, older adults and people with weakened immune systems, TODAY.com reported. In pregnant women, invasive listeria can cause miscarriages, premature births, and stillbirths. The disease can also cause a life-threatening infection in newborns.

Signs of an invasive listeria infection in pregnant women include fever and flu-like symptoms such as fatigue and muscle aches, according to the CDC.
