Eagles' Saquon Barkley calls out to Malik Nabers to anger of Giants fans: “Stay on your side”

Eagles' Saquon Barkley calls out to Malik Nabers to anger of Giants fans: “Stay on your side”

3 minutes, 0 seconds Read

Saquon Barkley will give credit where credit is due, even if it is his current NFC East rival, the New York Giants.

Barkley, who shined for the Philadelphia Eagles after scoring five touchdowns in the first three weeks of the season, was seen cheering on Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers, who scored two touchdowns of his own in Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns.

Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick by the Giants, caught the attention of everyone in the league with his acrobatic touchdown catch on the field and his overall performance over three weeks.

Barkley knows this rivalry, but he also knew the consequences when he decided to repost Nabers' message to Giants fans after the win over the Browns.

“You're gonna hate it…but I don't give a f***!!! He is SO!!,” Barkley wrote on X.

Nabers, also known by the nickname “Leek,” was ecstatic after feeling like he could win for the first time in the NFL.

“Giants fans, it's Leek. Got the dub. Let's keep it going, let's keep it going,” he said in the video.

Saquon Barkley reveals the Giants were “never really in the game” during free agency.

While Barkley simply showed his love and respect for a player who appears to be a star for his former team, his former fans didn't care at all about the gesture and showered him with comments.

“Barkley don't worry about us giants,” wrote one X user. “Don't worry about the Eagles, you're not here anymore.”

Another X user added: “Don't repost my team's account.”

“Weird. Go away,” commented another.

Not everyone in the comments, including Eagles fans, hated Barkley's post.

“I think it's cool,” said one Philly fan. “(Nabers) makes a bad quarterback look mediocre.”

“The way Giants fans are reacting to this post of a player giving credit to another player is pure comedy,” added another. “I'll keep saying it, this is business first and foremost, players have friends on 'rival' teams. They don't care about the 'fandom' talk, this is a fan thing, not a player thing.”

Three weeks of the regular season have already passed and Barkley has already stated bluntly that he is still talking to his friends from the Giants, including quarterback Daniel Jones, whom he encouraged after a disastrous first week against the Minnesota Vikings.

However, Barkley's focus is currently on the Eagles, especially after the hard-fought away win against the New Orleans Saints, where he scored two goals in the second half to lead the team to victory.

Meanwhile, the Giants hope Jones can continue to provide for Nabers, as he appears to be the No. 1 receiver they hoped for in April when they acquired him from LSU.
