Election day is here. Boeing workers have reached a collective agreement with the aircraft manufacturer. USA TODAY Sports has the latest rumors ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

What could make the crucial difference?

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have made their latest victories. Now that Americans from coast to coast have cast their votes on Tuesday, polls suggest the election will likely come down to a close call in the seven most closely contested states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada and Arizona.

What could be the deciding factor? From the gender gap to the black and Latino vote to the “blue wall” Here are six factors that could determine the winner.

  • A winner is unlikely to be announced tonight. Late-counted mail-in ballots, particularly in the swing states of Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, each of which prohibits election officials from opening and counting mail-in ballots until 7 a.m. on Election Day, when they must then also take care of in-person voting.
  • Major congressional elections are also at stake. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up for election this year, and a handful of close battles could determine which party ultimately wins the majority. There are now 34 seats up for grabs in the Senate.
  • We are monitoring possible unrest on Election Day. Election officials are wary of equipment failures and software problems that have muddled some local votes in previous elections — as well as violent threats that have infected the democratic process.

Are you ready to vote?

Less than 24 hours before Election Day, more than 78 million ballots have already been cast, and millions more will vote across the U.S. on November 5th If you haven't made your choice yet, check out USA TODAY's comprehensive voter guide, which includes information about down-bottom contests, details on how your vote will be counted and logistical advice for getting your ballot.

Is it possible to register on the same day? More than 20 states and Washington, DC allow same-day registration, allowing eligible voters to register and vote simultaneously through Election Day. However, in some states this only applies to the presidential and vice presidential races. Know what you can do in your state.

What about poll errors? Although cases of voter fraud, voter suppression and tampering with voting machines are rare, they are still criminal acts. How to report possible irregularities or violations.

A Boeing strike ends

Boeing machinists voted to accept the company's latest contract offer, ending a strike that began Sept. 13. Boeing's finances were hit hard by the strike, which halted production of 737, 767 and 777 aircraft in the Seattle area plants. The strike was also seen as a factor in October's weak jobs report. The plane maker continues to struggle with customer trust as delivery delays and regulatory actions have damaged its image with airlines and the general public. The latest contract promises, among other things, a salary increase of 38% over four years.

Can a convicted murderer with a low IQ be executed?

The Supreme Court declined Monday to consider whether a convicted murderer's mental disability is so severe that he cannot be executed, ordering a lower court to first clarify its opinion. That decision came despite objections from Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch, who said they agreed with Alabama's request that the court review that opinion and possibly previous rulings on how states must assess intellectual disabilities to impose cruel and unusual punishments avoid, reconsider. Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET marks the official deadline for all 32 teams, although many have already taken action and nine deals have been finalized since the start of the season.
