Fabian Lysell has a reputation as a sharpshooter and Bruins fans were able to experience this first hand in Tuesday night's 4-2 win over the Capitals.

Lysell, Boston's first-round pick in 2021, shook off a shaky outing against the Rangers with a stellar performance on Sunday night.

The winger's power-play goal from the point in the second period was the key moment of the game as he continued to try to stay in the first team.

“We were really pleased with his development from Game 1 to Game 2 and how determined he was with the puck, how determined he was to try and get shots on goal, how he made plays offensively and stepped back defensively,” coach Jim Montgomery said. “Good game for him.”

Riley Tufte, Patrick Brown and Justin Brazeau also scored goals for Boston, which dominated Washington from start to finish.

Joonas Korpisalo, who will be Boston's No. 1 goalie at the start of the season unless Jeremy Swayman's contract status changes, stopped all seven shots fired at him in 1½ periods. Michael DiPietro, who took over, allowed goals by Connor McMichael and Andrew Cristall.

“I didn't have a lot to do there, but I felt pretty comfortable every time I shot,” Korpisalo said. “The guys did a great job in front of me. They showed me the pucks, no second chances. So I felt pretty good.”
