A flight attendant's pro tips to help passengers increase their chances of getting a free in-light upgrade have gone viral on social media, where millions of viewers regularly tune in to learn her travel secrets.

Mistt's first and “simplest” piece of advice is based on the golden rule – “literally just be nice to your gate agent and flight attendant.”

“The miracles we can do when we get Starbucks or a bag of chocolates,” she suggested, adding that flight attendants like her can work 14 hours or more a day – “and don't even have time to eat.” fetch.” .”

Another reason for switching airplane seating to first class could be weights and dimensions, as most airplanes are heaviest in the back. “If we need to bring people forward, where do you think we should bring them?”

“The back,” Mistt whispers into the camera.

The Sky host's third policy is “guaranteed”, she claimed – as long as your profile matches.

Passengers who are first responders – and manage to communicate this information to onboard crew – may be pushed to the front of the upgrade queue to make their life-saving skills more readily available in an emergency.

“Even if we can't upgrade you to first class, we will always try to move you to an emergency exit row – where you have more legroom – so you can respond more quickly if we need your help in an emergency,” Mistt added.

Some viewers, including some self-proclaimed airline employees, commented on Mistt's upgrade hacks.

“I upgraded so people can get it for free when the bus is oversold. Always with people who are pleasant and nice to me. Yes, most of the time that’s all it takes,” another flight attendant agreed.

“My mom jokingly asked for one, but she actually got one,” said the brood of one lucky traveler.

However, others in her field expressed doubts.

“As a gate agent, we don't do free upgrades, and when we do, it's staff first, then in order by status, (ticket) price,” an Air Canada employee refuted, adding that her ” Friends” at Air France agree.

Colleagues at the airline commented on Mistt's video, claiming that her travel tips wouldn't work for everyone due to some of the airline's policies. Instagram/@cierra_mistt

Another added: “You can bring me Starbucks but you won't get a first class seat.” It’s not allowed and someone is always watching you.”

Another source said: “I work for United and we have so many blue chip customers that the upgrade list is always huge. Good luck upgrading to Starbucks.”

“And then there are the on-call staff. So if there are any seats left after they clear the passenger list, we will stand right there and wait for those seats,” they added.

Others suggested Mistt's tricks might be more viable on smaller airlines.
