It's been a rocky road, but Florida State football fans can finally celebrate after a 14-9 win over California on Saturday night.

FSU took the lead in the fourth quarter on a 36-yard touchdown pass from beleaguered quarterback DJ Uiagalelei to Ja'Khi Douglas. Marvin Jones Jr. and the defense held firm during a final push by Fernando Mendoza, Jaydn Ott and the Golden Bears.

Uiagalelei was once again spotty, throwing for 177 yards and an interception, but tonight he made the big play and put the Seminoles up 1-3. FSU fans are a little more forgiving of coach Mike Norvell after a questionable call at the end of the first half cut FSU's lead (more on that later).

But for now, FSU fans can rejoice in having defeated the “Calgorithm,” Cal Football’s highly creative Twitter attacks on the state of Florida and Florida state politics in the lead-up to the game.

FSU fans' reactions to the win against Cal

For FSU fans, it was an even happier night in Tallahassee that was a long time coming. Here's a look at the reactions from FSU fans on social media:

Mike Norvell under fire from FSU football fans at halftime

FSU scored a touchdown on its second possession of the game, with Lawrance Toafili running in from 2 yards out. The offense was buzzing and it finally looked like Uiagalelei and the offense were in sync.

But after that, things stalled and FSU faced fourth-and-7 with 23 seconds left in the second quarter, leading only 7-3. Coach Mike Norvell opted to attempt a field goal from Cal's 38-yard line. It would have been a 55-yard field goal, no mean feat, but doable with big-booted kicker Ryan Fitzgerald.

Uiagalelei couldn't connect his pass and Cal took over. A late hit on a scramble by quarterback Fernando Mendoza gave the Golden Bears the field position they needed to kick a last-second field goal and tie the game at one at halftime.

FSU fans felt like they were in Groundhog Day as they hoped for the Seminoles' first win of the season. Here's their reaction on social media:
