Fox News Decision Desk expects Democrats to keep their Senate seat in New Mexico

1 minute, 18 seconds Read

Fox News Decision Desk predicted that Democratic Sen. Martin Heinrich of New Mexico will defeat Republican Senate candidate Nella Domenici in a one-shot swing state that is now turning blue.

Domenici, a businesswoman, was hoping to become the first Republican to win a Senate election in New Mexico in 22 years – since her father, the late Sen. Pete Domenici, was re-elected to a sixth term in 2002.

The younger Domenici used her strong political brand and high profile in New Mexico when she fought against Heinrich. She also presented her resume of decades of experience in the financial industry at Bridgewater Associates, where she served as chief financial officer of Credit Suisse and Citadel Investment Group.
