Get ready! 🌬️ A cold front is moving through Houston Wednesday night

HOUSTON – We've been waiting for the cold front this week to bring us some relief from the late summer heat, and now it's almost here! We'll also expect some showers and thunderstorms to move in with the front later this afternoon. You can track the storms as they move in later today with the current radar scan here:

Forecast for Wednesday:

Before we get there, expect another day of hot and humid weather, with showers and thunderstorms through tomorrow afternoon. The cold front will reach us late Wednesday and early Thursday.

On the trail of the tropics:

Tropical Storm Helene formed in the northwestern Caribbean Sea at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. Helene is expected to rapidly intensify once it forms and moves into the open, very warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It is currently forecast to become a major Category 3 hurricane and make landfall near Apalachicola or along the Big Bend curve to Cedar Key on Thursday afternoon.

10-day forecast:

Stormy weather returns Wednesday afternoon as the front moves through. Then we get a nice little taste of fall with low humidity and morning temperatures around 15 degrees. The afternoons are still warm but it will feel dry. Next week the humidity is back.
