A welcome sight last night was active radar across the region as wet weather moved in. While the rain totals weren't impressive, we'll take what we can get, and most locations received between 0.1 and 0.3 inches of rain. This is good enough to moisten the ground and temporarily help a little with the spread of the bushfire this morning. However, we still need to keep an eye on the hotspots as it was not enough to completely eliminate these subsurface hotspots. With humidity remaining relatively low over the next few afternoons and gusty winds on Friday, the risk of bushfires remains elevated over the next few days. Big rainmakers are also not expected.

As the clouds break and the sun shines today, temperatures will climb back into the lower 70s.

Halloween will be warm and approaching record highs for the date. Mid 70s to low 80s will prevail in the afternoon, and temperatures will stay well into the 60s by early evening. The Boston record for this date is 81, which will put us near or just above it. It will be dry from start to finish.

Friday will also be warm with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. A cold front is also slipping through, but it is lacking moisture, so not much wet weather is expected other than a spotty shower. In fact, gusts of 25 to 35 miles per hour will be the bigger concern as they encourage the spread of bushfires, which are still ongoing.

On the other side of the front it will be significantly cooler with temperatures reaching over 50°C.
