Ilone Maher has a mission. The Olympic medalist in rugby for the USA represents her country and her sport. And on Dancing With The Stars, the DWTS candidate also wants to show off her strong, feminine body.

Maher and the U.S. women's rugby team won their first Summer Olympic medal in Paris: a bronze medal.

Now she wants to bring her personality and body to DWTS and showcase women like herself

“I think it's just going to show what I wanted to say, which is that female athletes are so much more than their sport, so much more than the stereotypes that are forced on them with the sport,” Maher said at a recent press conference for DWTS, according to Entertainment Weekly. “It's so great to show what my body type can do and how beautiful it can be in all kinds of situations.”

“That’s how you make noise!” Maher said shortly after her debut on ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars.”

During the Olympic Games in Paris, Maher spoke about how much the attacks on her and her body had hurt her.

“I get comments calling me a man and masculine and asking if I'm on steroids,” Maher said at the time. “There are always going to be negative people out there. And they pigeonhole women. And they think women should be fragile and dainty and quiet and meek. But that's not the case.”

Ilona Maher embodies the best side of a woman: she is strong and does not let herself be defeated despite senseless attacks.

Although she is not LGBTQ (at least she is not out), Outsports supports her in everything she wants to achieve for women.
