Is this the end for Jalen Reagor after he was released from the Patriots practice squad? Originally published on NBC Sports Philadelphia

Jalen Reagor, one of the worst 1st-round pick in Eagles history may be nearing the end of his career after being released from the Patriots' practice squad.

Reagor, the 21stst Pick in the 2020 draft, had only 15 catches in parts of three seasons with the Vikings and Patriots since the Eagles released him after just two seasons.

Of the 160 wide receivers drafted in the first round since 1960 who have played in at least 50 career games, Reagor’s 937 career yards are 6th-the fewest WRs drafted in the last 40 years.

The Eagles drafted Reagor instead of Justin Jefferson, who had the most yards by a receiver in NFL history with 5,899 yards in his first four seasons.

While Jefferson was likely headed for a Hall of Fame career, Reagor never made an impression with the Eagles and seemed unable to escape Jefferson's giant shadow looming over him.

Reagor caught a 55-yard pass from Carson Wentz in his first NFL game in Washington on Opening Day 2020, but his first career pass remains his longest career pass. And after catching 16 passes for 211 yards in his first five NFL games, he had just 15 catches for 185 yards in the rest of his rookie season. He dropped to 33-of-299 as a sophomore.

Reagor and Nelson Agholor are the only 1st-round receivers over the last 10 years with two different seasons in which they started at least 10 games and had fewer than 400 receiving yards.

The Eagles released Reagor after just two seasons and shortly after his 23rd birthday, trading him to the Vikings for a couple of late-round picks. In his only year with the Vikings, who released him after training camp in 2023, he caught eight passes for 104 yards and a touchdown on a pass from Kirk Cousins.

He was signed by the Patriots and had seven catches for 138 yards and no touchdowns last year, although he did return a 98-yard kick for a touchdown in a loss to the Bills on New Year's Eve.

New England released Reagor at the end of training camp last month and then re-signed him to the practice squad. He has not been called up for game day in any of the Patriots' games this year.

Reagor has 79 catches for 937 yards and four touchdowns in his first four or more seasons. His career mark of 16.7 yards per game ranks 197thth of 226 modern receivers drafted since 1970. Among the 160 who have played at least 50 games, he ranks 152ndand.

According to Spotrac, Reagor, only 25 years old, has earned around $14.6 million over the course of his career, of which around $9 million went to the Eagles.

Reagor ranked 90thth in Eagles history with 695 receiving yards, just behind Mark Bavaro and just ahead of Trey Burton.

What's next for Reagor? He's an unrestricted free agent and potentially a team in desperate need of a receiver could snap him up for minimum wage.

The Eagles? They're missing AJ Brown indefinitely, and Reagor played with Jalen Hurts for two years. And we know Howie Roseman loves bringing players back for a second term.

But not this time. There's no way Roseman could ever regret one of the worst decisions of his career.
