Israel issues evacuation warning for Lebanese civilians as it launches ‘extensive’ attacks

The militia responded with a wave of its own attacks, firing dozens of rockets at Israel. It was one of the heaviest attacks since the war began. While many of the 150 rockets, cruise missiles and drones fired by Hezbollah were intercepted by Israeli air defenses, there were “a small number of hits and intercept debris that fell on” Israeli territory, according to the Israeli Defense Forces on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military is also investigating reports that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in an Israeli airstrike, an Israeli official told NBC News. At this point, Israel does not have enough evidence to confirm or rule out his death, the official said.

Suspicions that Sinwar may have been killed are based on Israeli intelligence that he had not communicated with the outside world for several weeks, the official said, but there is no clear evidence of his death.

The news was first reported by Axios.

Raf Sanchez reported from Tel Aviv, Israel, Mithil Aggarwal reported from Hong Kong and Yuliya Talmazan reported from London.
