Jeff Morrow and the WAFB First Alert Weather Team provide an update on what we're following next for Halloween.

Of course, the timing isn't ideal for Halloween celebrations, but the bottom line is that the area could use some rain. We expect scattered to numerous showers and squalls today. We don't expect to have to deal with flooding or storms.

Rainfall will be most likely/widespread just before sunset, with the chance of rain decreasing through the evening. It's still a good idea to have rain gear on hand for trick-or-treating.

We expect a good chance of rain on Friday. Rainfall totals during the two-day stretch will remain below 0.50 inches for most. That won't do much to alleviate the increasing drought here.

However, higher rainfall amounts will benefit areas to the west and north. The rain will disappear from here just in time for the weekend. However, temperatures will remain significantly warmer than normal. Expect highs in the mid to upper 80s on Saturday and Sunday.

Our next cold front will attempt to move through the area by the middle of next week. The closer the front gets, the greater the chance of rain. It doesn't look like this front will result in much of a temperature change.

We continue to wait for a low pressure area to potentially form in the Caribbean. Long-range weather models continue to indicate something through early next week. The movement of this system could eventually bring it into the Gulf of Mexico, but models vary widely as to exactly where it goes and how strong it remains. It does not appear that the Gulf of Mexico will have an environment conducive to development or strengthening due to increasing wind shear.
