The Bruins celebrated Edwards before, during and after Sunday's game against the Kraken at TD Garden.

Edwards hung up his headphones at the end of the 2023-24 season after his speech pattern changed and slowed over time.

“Let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way first. “Doctors still haven't figured out what's going on between my brain and my mouth,” Edwards said, before smiling and adding, “Despite the insistence of Toronto fans, there is nothing wrong with my brain.”

The Bruins unveiled a mural at the booth Edwards shared with the color analyst Andy Brickley It read: “From High Above the Ice,” his opening signature during a pregame ceremony.

“I am very grateful to the players, the organization and the fans who have kept me safe for 19 years,” said Edwards. “And it’s truly an honor to have my family’s name on the wall of the locker room where I earned my living in a world-class arena.”

Fans will still throw Edwards catchphrases at him when they see him.

“Tumbling muffins, juicy rebounds and Chinese mustard are the main characters,” Edwards said, adding that he signed a jar of Chinese mustard for a fan at a recent autograph signing.

Over the years, Edwards worked as a reporter and anchor at several Boston stations, including WCVB and WHDH. He took on similar roles at ESPN, broadcasting everything from the Little League World Series to the Olympics before landing his dream job with the Bruins.

“I grew up with two new newspapers, the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe, and I read Joe Fitzgerald And Tim Horgan And Will McDonough And Leigh Montvilleand it affected me in a way that kids don't now,” Edwards said. “It showed me how important words are and I incorporated that into my style. I'm an emotional guy and it was an organic connection between my style.” I don't want the kids to imitate that style, but it worked for me and it was a dream come true.

“And to have my name in that booth is an honor.”

Geekie is more involved

Morgan Geekie returned to the lineup in the Flyers' shutout at Philadelphia on Saturday and was back in the starting lineup on Sunday Matt Poitras And Trent Frederick after being a healthy scratch against Carolina on Thursday.

Geekie struggled early in the campaign, but showed signs of being on the right track against the Flyers. In 17 shifts, he landed a few shots, a few goals and set up Poitras' goal.

“I thought he had control of the pucks. I thought he would be more physical. I thought he was a lot more on top,” Montgomery said. “He’s been a lot more involved in offensive opportunities, so there’s growth, but he’s got to continue to get it right like everyone else so we can get better.”

Before landing in Boston last season, Geekie played two seasons with the Kraken, who took him from the Hurricanes in the expansion draft. He scored 16 goals and 50 points with Seattle, but scored 17 goals in his first year with the Black & Gold.

Wotherspoon in, Lohrei out
