JJ Redick will make a unique request to the NBA on behalf of the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers gave JJ Redick his first win in his first regular season game as an NBA head coach on Tuesday, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103. For those who were skeptical of the Lakers' decision to sign him, it was a very encouraging performance.

Los Angeles showed more ball and player movement than ever before. In addition, the emphasis was again placed on offensive rebounding, and overall the team showed a lot of courage and determination.

It shot just 44.2% from the field and was an abysmal 5 of 30 from 3-point range. But it built a double-digit lead and held it for much of the second half, outscoring and outshooting the Timberwolves.

In addition to everything else, Redick has given the Lakers great attention to detail. If anyone needed proof of how attentive he is to the smallest things, he said he would make an interesting request to the NBA league office after the game to let the Lakers play with worn-out basketballs.

Anyone who has ever shot enough basketball knows how easy it is to grab a worn leather basketball and shoot comfortably, as opposed to brand new basketballs.

If that's what it takes to help the team overcome its outside shooting issues, Redick does a good job hitting for his team. Sometimes the smallest things add up to the biggest victories.
