Jaylen Brown missed his third straight game on Wednesday night with a hip flexor strain, missing the Celtics' highly anticipated game against the Golden State Warriors at TD Garden.

Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla gave a brief update on Brown's status during his pregame press conference.

“He works hard every day and tries to get back,” Mazzulla said. “I think it's an everyday thing so we'll see how he feels when he wakes up tomorrow and go from there. But he’s in there every day working on it.”

Brown is averaging 25.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in six appearances this season. The NBA Finals MVP scored 25 points in his last outing, but has struggled with his outside shooting lately, making just one of his last 21 3-point attempts.

Mazzulla has deployed two big starting lineups in Brown's absence, using either Luke Kornet or Neemias Queta at center alongside Al Horford. Queta made his first NBA start in Monday's 123-93 win over Atlanta and started again on Wednesday night.

“Both of those guys are playing really well, so they still come to their five-out lineup with Horford at five, but they play a little bigger,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. “And obviously Jaylen is one of the best players in the league, so they will miss him, but they have a lot of guys in reserve.”
