JT Sanders changes the dynamic and the game for the Panthers

“I know Tyrann didn’t intend to put me in charge,” Sanders admitted. “If you look at the DBs in this league, the (tight ends) probably have four to five inches of weight, probably 50 to 60 pounds of weight. This is not a match they will win if they try to take us to the top.

“They like to remove our knees and ankles, and I kind of felt myself after the first time.”

The “first” was a play in the second quarter when Sanders recovered a 50/50 ball over a safety for 15 yards. The Panthers offense punted on the drive, but as Sanders explained after the game, it built a little more trust between him and his QB.

This led to the hurdle being shown on the screen on the second play of the third quarter and the truck being shown for 46 yards later in the play.

“It was just a great performance,” praised coach Dave Canales after the win. “He also took care of the ball. You know, a lot of times in those situations the ball can be in danger, but he kept it high and tight and that's what we're asking him to do.”

Later in the drive, Young found Sanders over the middle for a 21-yard pickup on third-and-4, putting the Panthers in the red zone. Chuba Hubbard capped the drive with a touchdown to make the score 17:13.
