Lil Durk's key to Chicago has been revoked following his arrest for murder.

Durk was recently awarded the “Key to the Village” on Saturday (October 19), with the mayor recognizing the artist for his commitment to supporting the city’s youth. Mayor Katrina Thompson wrote in a Facebook post that Durk “signed a partnership agreement with his Neighborhood Heroes Foundation to create Kaleidoscope Zones to work with students from both communities and support sustainability projects in Broadview and Bellwood.”

However, as far as his arrest is concerned, TMZ reported that Mayor Thompson addressed Lil Durk's recent run-in with the social media law and the city's decision to take back the key.

“While the American justice system grants everyone the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law, the court of public opinion of residents in the village of Broadview has even higher moral and ethical standards of conduct,” Thompson typed. “And our public partners must also meet the same uncompromising standards that our residents demand.”

“In light of the news that Durk “Lil Durk” Banks has been arrested in Florida and charged with murder-for-hire, the Village of Broadview is revoking our honorary 'key to the village' granted to Durk and terminating our partnership agreement with his youth organization.”, Neighborhood Heroes- Foundation. As mayor, protecting Broadview’s interests and upholding residents’ values is our top priority.”

As previously reported, Durkio was arrested for his role in an alleged murder plot CBSChicago. The outlet reports that Devontay Durk Banks' incarceration comes days after members of his OTF crew were charged as “co-conspirators in a murder-for-hire plot in Los Angeles, California.” It is currently unclear whether Banks' arrest is related to the same case involving his OTF camp.

Investigators familiar with Durk's case say his murder-for-hire connection is retaliation for the death of King Von, a close friend of the rapper. As of Friday (October 25), no further information regarding Lil Durk's arrest has been released.
