LPEA Board Election Results Announced

La Plata Electric Company

The results of the 2024 La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) election were announced at the cooperative’s annual meeting on September 18.

At this meeting, not only were new directors elected and installed, but also the 2023 annual report and the LPEA's achievements were presented.

According to the LPEA's statutes, one seat is put up for election annually in each of the LPEA's four districts.

The detailed election results are as follows:

• District 1 (Archuleta County): Candidate Kirsten Skeehan won with 990 votes. Candidate Dusty Mars received 466 votes.

• District 4 (North and East La Plata District): Candidate Tim Wheeler won with 1,030 votes. Candidate John Purser received 718 votes.

Since no opposing candidates were submitted in constituencies 2 and 3, the following candidates were able to enter the constituencies unopposed:

• District 2 (south and west La Plata County): Incumbent Kohler McInnis was sworn into office.

• District 3 (City of Durango): Incumbent Ted Compton was reassigned to his seat.

Of the 18,479 ballots sent out across all constituencies, a total of 3,209 LPEA members cast their votes, representing a response rate of approximately 17.37 percent.

Officers will be elected at the next LPEA Board meeting, scheduled for October 16. Meeting details can be found at https://lpea.coop/lpea-board-Director Resources.
