Injured receiver Chris Hilton completed a full practice Thursday before LSU's road game against Texas A&M, coach Brian Kelly said.

Hilton ran with LSU's first-team offense in preseason practice before suffering a stress fracture in his ankle during a team practice on August 17, which Kelly described as giving him a longer recovery time than Kelly and the team originally expected .

“He’s made progress,” Kelly said. “It was a slow process for us and him. You don’t bring a wide receiver back after a long layoff like that unless he’s properly conditioned because then you’re going to get a hamstring injury, right?”

Before LSU's Sept. 21 win over UCLA, Hilton stripped down and warmed up but sat out the duration of the game. Kelly said two days later that the Tigers' game against South Alabama felt like it was the week he would return, but Hilton missed not only that game but also the next two games against Ole Miss and Arkansas.

LSU listed Hilton as questionable to play against Texas A&M in its availability report Wednesday.

“It's not the leg anymore,” Kelly said, “and we're not worried about it, and he's not worried about the leg.” This is more about a conditioning element relative to the soft tissue than anything else. So we're in a pretty good position here now. This just prepares him for the game.”

Hilton, a redshirt junior, has struggled with injuries throughout his career. He suffered a broken foot, two meniscus tears, a torn labrum in his shoulder and now a stress fracture that has sidelined him for the first seven games of LSU's season.

Receiver CJ Daniels (knee) also appeared on LSU's availability report. He was downgraded from “probable” to “questionable” on Thursday with a view to returning to fitness Saturday at 6:30 p.m., when the Tigers' road game against No. 14 Texas A&M begins on ABC.
