Pep Guardiola says Jack Grealish will be sidelined for at least a week while Manchester City will be without Jeremy Doku for “a little longer”.

Both players were missing from City's squad for Wednesday's Champions League game against Sparta Prague as the club said the pair were not fully fit.

Guardiola explained that they both sustained injuries in Sunday's Premier League win against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Doku started and played 66 minutes while Grealish was on the bench for 17 minutes.

“Both injured,” Guardiola told TNT Sports when asked about the pair’s whereabouts. “Jeremy will be out a little longer than Jack, but both have been injured in the last few games.

“I don’t know (how long they’re out). Hopefully Jack a week, maybe 10 days, Jeremy a little longer.”

The pair's injuries mean they are expected to miss Saturday's Premier League game against Southampton and Wednesday's Carabao Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur. They face a race to be fit for the Premier League game against Bournemouth and the Champions League game against Sporting CP.

City are already without Rodri, Kevin de Bruyne and Oscar Bobb due to long-term injuries, while Kyle Walker was ruled out of the weekend's win over Wolves and Wednesday's Champions League game after injuring himself during international duty against England this month had caused a problem.

Guardiola was only able to name seven substitutes for Wednesday's Champions League game, including third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson, instead of the maximum number of 12.
