Michigan rises in AP poll after victory over USC on Saturday

The Michigan Wolverines were in danger of slipping to 2-2 and likely falling out of the AP Poll, but Kalel Mullings wasn't going to let that happen. Instead, a last-minute win over then-No. 11 USC moved Michigan up to No. 12 in the latest rankings.

Saturday's win keeps the Wolverines in the poll, a streak that stretches back to the start of the 2021 season when the team officially ended the Covid season with a win over Washington and returned to the top 25 the following week.

Many of this season's opponents are in this week's poll. Texas remains ranked No. 1 in the country, while the Trojans slip to No. 12 – one spot behind Michigan. In addition, Ohio State (No. 3), Oregon (No. 8) and Illinois (No. 19) are also among the best in the country, with the Illini impressing with an overtime win over Nebraska on Friday night.
