In Texas A&M's 34-24 win Mississippi State on Saturday, Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman made his second consecutive start since returning from injury. It was far from a stellar performance for Weigman, who threw two interceptions against the Bulldogs. On Monday, the head coach of Texas A&M Mike Elko evaluated the performance of his second quarterback.

“I think he has some plays that he wants back.” Elko said. “Everyone is kind of every man for himself. The first one I don't know if it slipped or sailed. It was hard to tell, but it certainly wasn't an accurately thrown football. The second one came too late.

“Then I think he just got unbalanced with his progress on the other two who probably could have been picked. But I also think that with a piece of football, not every throw will be right. So I don’t know that you ever come out of a game without fixing things or correcting things.”

Despite two interceptions, Weigman's offensive lead was enough to give the Aggies their sixth straight win. In the win, Weigman completed 15 of his 25 pass attempts for 217 yards and a touchdown.

Weigman has played an important role for the Aggies since returning from injury in Week 6. In his first game back, Weigman completed 18 of his 22 pass attempts for 276 yards in a 41-10 victory Missouri.

It was an impressive performance from Conner Weigman, who missed three games due to a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 2. Now the Aggies will need Weigman again as they prepare to face No. 8 LSU on Saturday.

Mike Elko is excited to see how his team responds to the challenge.

“It’s going to be a big challenge,” Elko said. “It will be a great environment. It will be an opportunity for us to go out there and show that we belong on this stage and that we have gotten this program to where we all thought we wanted it to be. It's a great opportunity. It's a great venue. They are a great team.

“We are a talented team. It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to Saturday, looking forward to a great environment in Kyle, I know our guys are going to give it their all and it's going to be electric and we're going to spend the week trying our best to play our best football play.”
