Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell made an appearance on NFL Network Good morning football on Oct. 17 and surprised co-host and Minnesota native Jamie Erdahl by offering her the opportunity to come to US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis and sound the Gjallarhorn. Erdahl became emotional and gladly accepted the offer, saying she couldn't wait for the day to come.

Now that day is upon us as Erdahl will sound the Gjallarhorn before Sunday night's game against the Indianapolis Colts, which begins at 7:20 p.m. and will be televised on NBC.

Erdahl, a Bloomington native who played basketball and softball at St. Olaf College before pursuing a career in sports broadcasting, is already back in her home state of Minnesota performing Good morning football on Friday from the Vikings' practice facilities in Eagan. It's fair to say that Erdahl is looking forward to Sunday night's game.

Erdahl certainly seemed ready for the moment. She was decked out in Vikings gear, from a retro Vikings jacket to a metal horned Vikings cap to a boxing-style championship belt covered in Vikings logos and Vikings purple. Erdahl even practiced the Gjallarhorn, although not quite at stadium size, in preparation for the big day on Sunday.

“I said I was nervous, now I'm in the adrenaline zone just getting ready for Sunday Night Football,” Erdahl said on NFL Network. “I'm so excited. They told me there was no rehearsal for this event. I have to change direction. Yes, what is that? There is no sample? You have to tell me where to go, who to go for the high five, where to stand, but most importantly just let people know that I'm not going to take my shirt off like Kirk Cousins did for a few years long did back when he played the Gjallarhorn, so we already established that. I’m so excited.”
