Minnesota Weather: Falling temperatures, showers likely later Wednesday

1 minute, 35 seconds Read

After a warm Wednesday morning in the Twin Cities, temperatures will drop into the 50s with a chance of rain later in the day.

Forecast for Wednesday

Wednesday morning starts out very warm in the Twin Cities metro area with temperatures in the high 70s, but that warmth won't last. Temperatures will continue to fall throughout the day, reaching the upper 50s in the afternoon and low 50s in the evening.

Wednesday will remain dry for most of the day with cloudy skies and northerly winds 5-15 mph. Scattered showers and rumbles will develop across southeastern Minnesota in the mid to late afternoon. Showers may reach the Twin Cities before widespread rainfall occurs overnight.

Rain and snow on the way

A system will advance from the south and southwest overnight, starting with rain before transitioning to a rain-snow mix early Thursday morning. Areas surrounding the metro could see some slush accumulation, while northern Minnesota could see a few inches of snow accumulation.

The rain and snow will ease towards evening and it will be a dry but cool Halloween with temperatures around 40 degrees. Temperatures will approach the seasonal first day of November again before climbing back into the 60s over the weekend.
