MLB issued a celebration warning to the Mets and Braves ahead of the doubleheader

The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves face off on Monday in a makeup doubleheader with big playoff implications at stake.

If the two games end separately, both teams will secure a Wild Card spot. If a team wins, the Arizona Diamondbacks earn a postseason spot.

Whoever wins Game 1 (Braves currently leading 3-0 entering the eighth inning) will receive their ticket to the playoffs. However, they have to wait until late in the evening to celebrate with the champagne.

According to Mark Sanchez of the New York Post, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that Major League Baseball advised both clubs to delay their celebration until after Game 2 of the doubleheader.

MLB's decision makes sense considering the second contest must be played and these playoff celebrations involve alcohol.

Should the Braves hold the lead, the Mets will start right-handed pitcher Luis Severino in Game 2, which would be a must-win.

If the Mets make a late comeback, the Braves would rely on NL Cy Young candidate Chris Sale in Game 2.

Braves' rookie hurler Spencer thresholdbach has once again dominated the Mets, pitching seven shutout innings so far. Schlafenbach has thrown 21 innings against the Mets this season and has allowed a total of one run in three starts.

Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader begins 40 minutes after the finale of the first contest. From the looks of things, it looks like the pressure will be on the Mets in the second act. If they lose both games, they will not play in the postseason.
